Graduate Fashion Week is held each year to celebrate and showcase some of the best young talent breaking into the fashion industry. This year they have honoured two of the most prolific industry veterans, Vivienne Westwood and Nick Knight. The pair have been appointed as lifetime patrons of the talent platform, in honour of their monumental contributions to the world of fashion.

Other patrons include Christopher Bailey, who showcased his own work at Graduate Fashion Week back in 1991 and Victoria Beckham.

Speaking of his appointment, Knight said:

“I am honoured to become a patron of Graduate Fashion Week. I have had the privilege of working with so many creative people and inventive thinkers who have shown their work at the event. Fashion education in the UK is the best in the world – it really supports radical new ways of thinking and working, which creates things we haven’t seen before. And that’s what fashion is all about.”

The event’s annual GFW Ethical Award will be renamed to The Vivienne Westwood Ethical Award in light of her new role at the organisation and the winner will have the opportunity to intern at Westwood’s studio in London. She is said to be delighted to be part of the prestigious event for young talent.
