The MET Gala is the biggest event in fashion.

Otherwise known as the Oscars of fashion, anyone who is anyone in the celebrity world will be walking the red carpet on the first Monday in May at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York’s Upper East Side.

Every year, Anna Wintour hosts the MET Gala; an event to raise money for the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In 2020, the Museum will be 150 years old and, due to this milestone, the theme for the 2020 MET Gala is ‘About Time: Fashion and Duration.’

As well as the red carpet, the Costume Institute will also hold an exhibition based on this theme. Max Hollein, the director of The Met has said that the exhibition will incorporate both fashion flashbacks and fast-forwards, exhibiting garments from the Costume Institute’s extensive archives.

The MET Gala is one of the biggest platforms for designers to showcase their garments on the celebrities of their choice. So, who will be wearing who? We’ll be sure to keep you updated.

Blurring the lines between fashion and fantasy, the MET Gala is a fashion spectacle you won’t want to miss.

“Fashion is a kind of theatre.” – Anna Wintour.
