Lady Gaga and Donatella Versace have been friends for years thanks to their mutual passion for eccentric fashion, so what better person to depict Donatella on screen?
Well it has now been revealed that Gaga will be starring as her fashion pal in the upcoming third season of the anthology series, American Crime Story, depicting the murder of Donatella’s brother and leading designer Gianni Versace. Gianni was tragically shot and killed outside his Miami Beach mansion in July 1997 by serial killer Andrew Cunanan and the 10 part series will follow the events surrounding his death.
News of the project comes shortly after the success of the first installment of Ryan Murphy’s anthology, American Crime Story, The People v. O.J. Simpson, which went on to win 5 Emmys. A second series focusing on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina is also scheduled to be aired ahead of the Versace tale.
Gaga is a relative newcomer to acting, however she has already landed herself a Golden Globe for her role in Murphy’s American Horror Story and has been lined up to star in Bradley Cooper’s new film A Star Is Born.
