Stranger Things has been the most raved about TV show of the year and in amongst all the supernatural creatures and suspense, one of the biggest talking points of the hit series has got to be the incredible eighties wardrobe. We’d even go as far as saying that if you haven’t binged on the show yet, it’s definitely worth tuning in just to catch a glimpse of the killer chunky knits, baseball caps and a quaffed hairdos.

Providing us with all the style inspiration that we need for Autumn/Winter, the cast have become such fashion icons over the last few months, that Millie Brown (Eleven) has even landed her very own modelling gig, appearing on the front of So It Goes and there have also been rumours that she’ll be appearing in a Louis Vuitton campaign alongside co-stars Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) and Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin). Watch this space!

So how can we channel the funky 80s looks from the show without looking dated? Here are some of our top tips for creating the perfect Stranger Things inspired outfit this season.

Nancy Wheeler

From the high waisted mom jeans, to the cosy knitwear and shearling jacket, Nancy Wheeler definitely provided us with some of the best style inspo of them all. The wholesome high schooler nailed the preppy all American look with an edge throughout the series, and what’s better is that loads of her outfits are totally wearable today. Here’s our modern twist on Nancy’s enviable style.

Eleven

She may only be eleven years old, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t want to steal Eleven’s cool grunge look. She’s probably the most iconic character in Stranger Things and to say her style is unique would be an understatement. After all, it wasn’t exactly planned out. For a toned down take on Eleven’s distinctive ‘babydoll gone bad’ look, try layering a bomber jacket or an anorak over a simple jersey dress. Complete the look with some retro accessories, such as her signature hi-top trainers, a classic backpack and a square watch. If you want to go one step further, some striped tube socks will be the icing on the cake.

Jonathan Byers

Jonathan Byers is a mysterious one and although he gives off some slightly odd stalker vibes, he’s got a seriously cool sense of style going on. Plus he’s a bit of a hero really!

The artsy teen is the master of layering, so he’s the perfect fashion inspiration for the upcoming months. Steal Jonathan’s look by throwing together some dark skinny jeans, with a simple t-shirt, plaid shirt and Harrington jacket combo. Top it all off with some chunky chukka boots.

Dustin, Mike and Lucas

It may seem a bit strange taking style tips from a bunch of kids, but we love the youthful eighties flair that these three monster hunters possess. Much like Jonathan, these boys sure know how to do layering right and the mash up of colours, prints and textures creates a really quirky retro look that would totally work today. Polo shirts, quilted gilets and jackets upon jackets form the staples of their layered ensembles. Complete the laid back look with a trucker cap and a classic backpack.
