We’re a nation obsessed with celebrity style, whether we’re trolling through the best dressed lists, flicking through Instagram or even having a bit of a giggle at the inevitable fashion disasters from the latest showbiz event!

So how can we seek inspiration from some of the most fashion savvy stars? Here are a few style lessons that we can all learn from some of our favourite celebrities.

1) Take fashion risks…

You’ll never find your own personal style without a bit of experimentation. Sure there may be a few blunders along the way, but I assure you there will be far more days when you look absolutely fabulous!

Take Cara for example, this sheer number probably isn’t your standard dog walking attire, but we reckon she pulls it off, don’t you?

2) Be confident (or at least fake it)…

The key to pulling off something that’s a bit outside of your comfort zone is to wear it with confidence. As a celebrity, it is their job to work the cameras and get up in front of crowds, so a great deal of the time it is their pure tenacity that makes people aspire to be like them.

We reckon Rita could work a bin bag  if she wore it with enough spunk.

3) Go bold or go home….

Life is too short to blend into the background. If you’re brave enough to sport a bit of colour or a vibrant print, the brighter and bolder the better, we say!

Beyonce will never be seen in anything less than show stopping and she’s at no risk of going unnoticed in this striking multicoloured printed blouse. She’s certainly got Jay-Z’s attention anyway!

4) But, sometimes black is best…

If something understated is more your thing, you can’t really go wrong with black. It’s flattering, it’s versatile and it’s super chic. Victoria Beckham has been showing the world how to sport an LBD ever since her Spice Girls days and she’s still totally nailing the all black look now in this sophisticated tailored outfit.

5) Brave statement accessories…

Brighten up a minimalistic outfit with stand out accessories, such as a statement bag, bright shoes or chunky jewellry.

Katy Perry is never afraid to push the boundaries of her wardrobe and wear something a little out there. Sure, there have been a few that haven’t quite worked, but most of the time she absolutely smashes it!

6) Bare your shoulders…

Supermodel legs that seem to go on for miles are old news, this season it’s all about baring your shoulders and the good news is, it’s much easier to pull off. Cold shoulder and off-the-shoulder styles are really on trend at the moment and that subtle flash of skin is really demure, yet sexy.

I know what you’re thinking though, Kendall Jenner would look amazing in just about anything, but I assure you this is a trend for everyone.

7) Suits aren’t just for men…

A suit doesn’t have to be reserved for the male sex and it most certainly doesn’t have to be boring.

Seek inspiration from Alexa and opt for a flattering tailored fit that nips in at the waist. Pick something  in a stand out print, or  bold colour to make a real style statement.

8) Don’t be afraid to clash prints…

Who says florals can’t be paired with polka dots? Clashing your prints can give your look some individuality and is a great way for expressing your personality in what you wear.

Chloe Moretz’ blouse and skirt combo probably shouldn’t work, but is so does! Plus it really suits her quirky personality.

9) Stripes never go out of style…

If in doubt, wear stripes. The breton stripe has been about since the mid 1800s, after featuring on the uniforms of French seamen, and over a century and a half later, the look is a firm favourite among fashionistas, including Olivia Palermo.

The timeless style is effortless and versatile, ideal for a casual or dressed up look. If you’re concerned about horizontal stripes making you look wider, the narrower stripe the better. Alternatively you can go for a vertical stripe to elongate your body.

10) Match your shoes and bag for a put together look…

Sometimes it’s your accessories that really make an outfit. By matching your bag, with your shoes it will really pull your whole look together.

Blake Lively looks immaculate in a glitzy nude number, paired with matching silver accessories.
