As the warmer weather approaches, that can only mean one thing. Wimbledon’s 130th Championships are due to start on the 27th June until the 10th July. Founded in 1877, The Championships are one of the four Grand Slam events, as well as being the oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament in the world.

We’re backing Glasgow born Andy Murray this year, who is currently ranked as Men’s Singles world number 2. Not only is he a two-time Grand Slam winner, he is also an Olympic champion. The 29 year old tennis player has won 574 matches throughout his career since turning pro in 2005. In 2013 Murray won Wimbledon’s Championships, becoming the first British man to win since Fred Perry’s victory in 1936.

Fred Perry launched his white slim fitting tennis shirts made from a knitted pique cotton at Wimbledon in 1952. They were an immediate success, as although still abiding by the traditional dress code the design was a change from previous baggy styles, and it soon became iconic. The brand were once a clothing sponsor of Andy Murray, who we’re hopeful for winning the Championships this year to reinstate his title as Men’s Singles world number 1.
