Barbour have announced their very first global brand ambassador as Scottish actor Sam Heughan, who you may recognise as playing Jamie Fraser in the hit TV series Outlander.

Having grown up in the Scottish countryside, Sam has developed a passion for the outdoors, making him a great fit for the brand. In fact, he’s from Galloway, just a stones throw from the farm where founder John Barbour lived, before moving across the border to set up the first Barbour store in South Shields in 1894.

Meant to be? We think so!

Sam will be collaborating with the brand for a series of photoshoots and appearances, as well as releasing his own signature capsule collection, incorporating Barbour’s renowned tartans.

Speaking of his new role with the Barbour Sam said:

“I have a great passion for the company and their employees that feels more like I’ve been welcomed into their extended family. I very much look forward to designing my own capsule collection based on this ethos and to representing the brand in the UK, the US and internationally.”
