The long awaited 2016 Olympics kick off tomorrow and we can’t wait to see what Rio pulls out the bag, for what is expected to be an utterly spectacular Opening Ceremony!
One thing that we will certainly be keeping our eyes peeled for among all the excitement however, is Canada’s showstopping uniforms, dubbed the most stylish look of the games this year.
Designed by none other than Canadian luxury fashion duo Dean and Dan Caten of DSquared2, the uniforms present an innovative blend tailoring with contemporary activewear designs. Central to the look is a striking pillar box red mash up or a windbreaker and a tailored blazer. The jacket features flap pockets, gum covered snap buttons, a bonded zip pocket on the chest and dips down into a fishtail at the back. ‘Canada’ is printed in large black print across the back, along with Canada’s maple leaf motif.
Making up the rest of the uniform, is an oversized white t-shirt with button up cotton poplin sleeves and a fishtail back, along with black tapered sweat pants, featuring bonded zips and banded cuffs.
Speaking of the Olympic uniform, Dean and Dan Caten said:
“Canada’s look embraces athleisure’s very relevant mix of activewear and everyday clothing, but still cleverly works in details that elevates it above gym clothes. The Opening Ceremony look is made with our passion for our birth country mixed with the energetic spirit of DSquared2. It is such an honour to hear about these positive comments.”
